LAS VEGAS (AP) — St. Rose Dominican Hospitals says it's eliminating 100 jobs at its three hospitals around Las Vegas.

Officials say most of the job cuts are coming in supervisory and support positions and not in jobs directly related to patient care.

Among the reasons cited for the action are the economy and government cuts in health care benefits.

St. Rose Dominican officials say half of the job losses have already occurred through attrition, while the remaining 50 layoffs will take place in the next two weeks.

St. Rose Dominican has more than 3,500 employees at its hospitals in Las Vegas and Henderson.

It's the Las Vegas area's only nonprofit, religious-based hospital.
