INDIAN SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a man who was serving a murder sentence in a southern Nevada prison has died in an apparent suicide.

Nevada Department of Corrections officials say 40-year-old Jonathan Van Hook was found unresponsive on Sunday in his solitary cell in High Desert State Prison.

He was pronounced dead after attempts to revive him failed.

Van Hook had been in the prison system since February. He was serving a sentence of 15 years to life in prison after being convicted in Clark County of second degree murder of a victim over the age of 65.
