Suspect pleads not guilty in Calif. girl's death

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (AP) — The man accused in the killing of a 13-year-old Suisun City girl has pleaded not guilty.

A shackled Anthony Lamar Jones entered his plea in Solano County Superior Court on Thursday.

The 32-year-old Jones is charged with murder with special circumstances in the kidnapping, sexual assault and slaying of of Genelle Renee Conway-Allen.

The seventh-grader was reported missing Jan. 31 by her guardian at the foster home where she lived. A passer-by found Genelle's body the next morning in a nearby park.

Dozens of Jenelle's family and friends on attended services on Thursday for the teen who was later buried in Benicia.

Jones remains in the Solano County Jail where he's being held without bail.

He could be sentenced to either life in prison or to death, if convicted.
