KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) — A California-based technology consulting company plans to expand its existing operations in Kokomo and Carmel, creating 400 jobs by 2017.

Newark, California-based Systems in Motion LLC said Monday it plans to hire about 240 new workers in Kokomo and 160 in nearby Carmel. It plans to lease up to 25,000 square feet of space in downtown Kokomo's historic Firestone Building and expand its Carmel site by 15,000 square feet.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it offered Systems in Motion up to $5.65 million in conditional tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company's job-creation plans. The city of Kokomo also approved local incentives.

The company said it plans to begin hiring for additional software development and testing and support positions in Indiana next month.
