ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — A high school student-athlete has died in Orange County, eight days after she suffered cardiac arrest while warming up before tennis practice.

Seventeen-year-old Morgan Wilson's parents, Scott and Debbie, said in a statement that their daughter died Wednesday.

The Orange County Register says earlier in the week she had been taken off of all life support except for oxygen.

Wilson was a varsity tennis and track and field athlete at Esperanza High School, where she would have been a senior this fall.

As a junior, she was the captain of the girls tennis team.

She collapsed July 8 while warming up at Anaheim Tennis Center.

The newspaper says as of late last week, family members were unsure what led to the collapse.
