LAS VEGAS (AP) — Investigators say a 17-year-old girl killed in a hit-and-run crash in Las Vegas over the weekend may have been sitting or lying in the roadway when she was struck.

Police said Friday that witnesses have come forward with tips in the death of Alexis Monasterio, who was killed about 12:10 a.m. Sunday on Charleston Boulevard, about seven miles east of downtown Las Vegas.

Detectives say physical evidence in the case matches up with the new witness accounts.

Las Vegas police say they're reviewing video surveillance from nearby businesses, which shows several vehicles that may have been involved in the hit-and-run.

Monasterio's parents, David and Claudia Montesario, told KVVU-TV Fox 5 that the teen had been due to graduate from culinary school this year and dreamed of opening a restaurant.
