OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — A judge has sentenced an Oakland teen convicted of killing his adoptive parents to 25 years to life in prison after the 16-year-old pleaded guilty to both slayings.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/WlVNFx ) that Moses Kamin on Friday told victims' family members in court that he did not want their forgiveness, and that he hoped they could forget him.
Kamin pleaded guilty in December to the first-degree murder of 55-year-old Robert Kamin, and the second-degree murder of 50-year-old Susan Poff. He was charged as an adult.
Police said Kamin told them he strangled the couple after an argument over a suspension from school for using marijuana.
Kamin's defense attorney argued his client had a psychological disorder due to childhood trauma he suffered while living with his birth mother.
