RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — The son of a neo Nazi leader charged with killing his father when he was 10 is returning to court for the final phase of his trial.

The trial halted in November when an expert witness called by the prosecution was not permitted to testify. A new expert is scheduled to take the stand Monday.

The boy, who is now 12, told authorities in a videotaped interview that he shot his father, Jeff Hall, while he was sleeping. At issue is whether he knew what he was doing was wrong and whether there was premeditation..

If a judge finds the boy murdered his father, he could be jailed until he is 23.

An underlying theme of the trial is whether the father's leadership of a white supremacist group played a role in the killing of the 32-year-old Hall.
