TEMECULA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities are pursuing a big truck on Southern California freeways after an alleged assault.

KNBC-TV reports the pursuit began Tuesday in the city of Ontario, east of Los Angeles, where the driver allegedly attempted to run down a police officer.

The truck appears to be a waste-hauling rig carrying a large bin that can slide off the rear.

The truck has been heading south on Interstate 15 in San Diego County, with a brief detour through a gas station.
