DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — A University of California, Davis student injured in an explosion at a campus apartment has been arrested in connection to the blast.

Authorities say 32-year-old David Snyder was arrested Saturday for investigation of possessing an explosive, possessing materials with the intent of making a destructive device and possessing firearms on campus.

The junior researcher injured his hand in Thursday's explosion, which forced the evacuation of dozens of residents.

UC Davis Police Chief Matt Carmichael said firearms and materials that can be used to make bombs were found in his apartment. However, he said there was no evidence that Snyder was plotting some broader crime on campus.

The Sacramento Bee reports Snyder has been placed on leave from his temporary job at a campus chemistry lab.
