TONOPAH, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol continues to investigate a fatal rollover accident that claimed the life of a Las Vegas woman over the weekend on U.S. Highway 6 east of Tonopah.
Trooper Barbara Stapleton said Monday 71-year-old Sharon Lehan was a passenger in the 1999 Nissan Quest that crashed about 9 a.m. Saturday east of mile marker 48.
The driver, 76-year-old John Lehan of Las Vegas, was thrown from the car. He was taken to Nye County Hospital for upper body injuries. NHP had no information on his condition Monday.
A preliminary investigation indicates the westbound Nissan crossed into oncoming traffic and onto the dirt shoulder before striking a culvert and overturning.
Troopers say both people were wearing their seatbelts. There's no word on whether alcohol might have been involved.
