RENO, Nevada (AP) — Officials say a Washoe County Sheriff's Office deputy and an inmate are being treated for injuries after the deputy shot the inmate at a Reno hospital.
Washoe County Sheriff's Office spokesman Bob Harmon says the deputy was guarding an inmate undergoing treatment at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center on Sunday night.
Harmon says around 10:20 p.m. the deputy shot the inmate for reasons that officials have not disclosed.
He says the inmate was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Officials have not released the name of the deputy or the inmate.
Harmon says the Reno Police Department is investigating the incident.
Reno Police did not immediately return messages Monday.
