CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — There's a new garbage collector in town for the city of Fernley and unincorporated areas of Churchill County.

Waste Management has acquired Trash Pros and will take over residential trash collection in Fernley and the unincorporated areas between Fernley and Fallon beginning Oct. 1.

The acquisition was announced Wednesday.

Waste Management officials say they expect the transition to be seamless, and current costs and service levels will remain the same. Customers should leave their trash curbside by 6 a.m. on their regular pickup days.

The next quarterly bills will be sent out in November instead of October.

Company officials say residents can also drop off recyclables for free at the Fernley Transfer Station from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
