SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities have evacuated a water park, as crews battle a wildfire near the Cal Expo in Sacramento.

The fire, which broke out Friday afternoon, was sending thick plumes of smoke over the area.

Sacramento fire spokesman Roberto Padilla tells the Sacramento Bee the fire is burning through extremely dry brush and trees. There are no reports of injuries or structural damage.

Fire officials say crews have brought in a helicopter and bulldozer.

Cal Expo hosts hundreds of events a year, including harness racing. The Expo was still planning to put on its annual fireworks and Independence Day celebration.
