LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a nearly seven-hour standoff between a possibly suicidal woman and a Los Angeles Police SWAT team has ended peacefully.

Officer Kevin Archer tells City News Service the woman was taken into custody without incident at a home in suburban Winnetka shortly before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Some 20 nearby homes were evacuated after it was reported that the woman might have had a cache of weapons. No weapons were found and residents were allowed back home.

KNBC-TV reports the woman, thought to be in her 50s, may be a former law enforcement officer.
