LAS VEGAS (AP) — A woman is dead and a 36-year-old Las Vegas man is jailed on kidnapping and murder charges in what investigators are calling a domestic violence slaying.

The Clark County coroner is identifying the dead woman as 37-year-old Iris Moran.

A ruling hasn't been made about her cause of death.

Las Vegas police say Marvin Moran was arrested after a 911 call about 6:15 a.m. Friday from an apartment off Durango Drive near Sahara Avenue.

Police say they found Iris Moran mortally injured and say she appeared to have been severely beaten.

She was pronounced dead a short time later.

It wasn't immediately clear if Marvin Moran had a lawyer.

He's due for an appearance Wednesday in Las Vegas Justice Court.
