VENTURA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old woman has died after falling off a cliff near Big Sur.

Monterey County Sheriff's officials said Wednesday that 18-year-old Brianna Victoria Stevens was rock climbing with relatives near the Mill Creek Day Use Area when she fell.

Commander William Kaye says she was not using any safety equipment.

The Ventura County Star reports preliminary autopsy results show Stevens died after suffering blunt-force injuries and a skull fracture in the Aug. 12 incident.

The newspaper says Stevens attended Ventura High School but left in February 2013 before graduating.
