LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police say a man arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty is the sole suspect in a series of shootings that killed three people within the span of an hour Sunday in the northern suburbs of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles police Cmdr. Andrew Smith said Tuesday that 34-year-old Alexander Hernandez of Sylmar is believed to have worked alone and is the sole suspect in the shootings.
Hernandez is being held on $1 million bail in the animal-cruelty case but has not been charged with the shootings that killed two women and one man and injured four others.
Smith says Hernandez is also being looked at as a potential suspect in several other unsolved cases that may have also involved a tan- or gold-colored SUV and the use of a shotgun.
