GUADALUPE, Calif. (AP) — Rescuers say two people were swept into the ocean on a beach in northern Santa Barbara County, and only one of them has been found.

County fire Capt. David Sadecki tells the Santa Maria Times that one person remained missing Sunday afternoon, a few hours after the first person was rescued at the Rancho Guadalupe Dunes Preserve west of the small town of Guadalupe.

Members of a Santa Maria church were conducting a baptism at the beach at the time, but it wasn't immediately clear who the two people were who were swept away.

Rescue crews from several local fire departments along with a U.S. Coast Guard boat were searching for the missing person.
