MARTINEZ, Calif. (AP) — Firefighters say two workers at the Tesoro refinery in Martinez were injured after being splashed with acid.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the injuries occurred early Wednesday in a gasoline production unit.

Tesoro spokeswoman Tina Barbee says the production unit has been shut down while the cause of the acid release is under investigation.

Barbee says the company has notified the county health department and other agencies about the accident.

About 700 employees work at the refinery, which produces gasoline and diesel fuel.
