RENO, Nev. (AP) — Two newcomers and an incumbent have captured seats on the State Board of Education.
Dave Cook of Carson City won re-election Tuesday, while Las Vegans Alexis Gonzales-Black and Allison Serafin claimed first terms.
Cook defeated Donna Clontz, Gonzales-Black beat Forrest Darby and Serafin cruised to victory over Ed Klapproth.
All three of the winners have teaching experience.
The non-partisan board members establish policies that govern the state's schools. Their terms are for four years.
