RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Football season is officially underway for the silver and blue. On Monday August 6th, Media Day was held in Legacy Hall on the University of Nevada campus. The media was able to ask Coach Ault and select players how excited they are to begin a new season in a new conference.
Coach Ault said, “It’s an exciting time. With the change with the staffs, defensively and offensively, I think that it’s an exciting time for our players as well as me because it forces us to take a look at where we were, where we are, and where we want to be.”
Monday marked the first day of Fall Camp for the Pack as well, and it was a very exciting time for one player in particular. After suffering a life threatening injury, one wide receiver is back on the field and ready to make an impact. Senior WR Brandon Wimberly suffered a gunshot wound last June. He has been training and rebuilding his strength and knows that this year, there’s a specific role for him on and off the field. Wimberly said, “My role on the team is always important. Not only because of what I can do on the football field but the leadership that I carry. I think a lot of kids respect me because of what I’ve been through and I feel like that’s a big part.”
Nevada will open up the season on the road on Saturday, September 1st at the University of California. Kickoff is set for noon.
