HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Police say a late-night street fight between Los Angeles Dodgers and Angels baseball fans led to an attack on three Marines who intervened.

Huntington Beach police Lt. Mitch O'Brien says a woman wearing an Angels jersey got into a heated argument with two men talking about the Dodgers at about 1:45 a.m. Monday, and the passing Marines got involved to try to help the woman.

Police say two Marines were stabbed, one of them cut with a broken bottle in front of police. They remain hospitalized, but are expected to survive. The third was treated and released.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and released on bail, and four others were detained then released.

Neither team was playing nearby at the time.
