VENTURA, Calif. (AP) — Ventura County authorities have arrested four people on suspicion of attempted murder following a gang-related stabbing attack that left a 22-year-old man seriously injured.

The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday that Jose Barragan was stabbed multiple times in his neck and torso. He collapsed on a Thousand Oaks street, where bystanders came to his aid.

Sheriff's officials say Barragan and his attackers are documented members of a Thousand Oaks street gang.

Authorities say the four suspects face charges including attempted murder.

They were identified as 18-year-old Brandon Navarro of Glendale; 20-year-old Jonathan Alinei of Simi Valley; 29-year-old Hector Martinez of Newbury Park; and 20-year-old Briana Ayala. Ayala was described by authorities as a transient.
