RENO, Nev. (AP) — More than 500 federal employees who were furloughed from their jobs at the Nevada National Guard last week are scheduled to return to work on Tuesday.
Maj. Dennis Fournier said Monday the reduced operating capability was sustained by the Nevada Guard's full-time active Guard and reserve staff of about 400 soldiers and airmen.
Fournier says the furloughs made it necessary to postpone last week's scheduled training drill that typically involves about 4,400 Nevada Guardsmen. But otherwise he says the effect of the shutdown has been largely transparent to most Nevadans.
