PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) — Police in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Palo Alto say six people were injured, one critically, when a car jumped a curb outside a cafe.

The Palo Alto police accident reconstruction team was at the scene Thursday afternoon. Police said in a Tweet that the car's elderly driver appeared to have accidentally driven onto the curb, striking five pedestrians.

Four of the pedestrians and the driver suffered minor injuries. But police say one pedestrian was critically injured.

A call to police was not immediately returned.
