Nadia wrote in to ask why some of the dirt around certain road projects appears to be painted green ?
I talked to Scott Magruder with NDOT about this today. That green dirt is dirt that's been sprayed with native grass seed.
We looked around some of the construction sites but we couldn't find any today, maybe because of our wet and windy weather recently.
But Magruder says the spray-on seed they use helps to fight erosion and also helps control the dust problem. They spray this mixture and it gives the native grass a chance to grow rather than just leaving bare dirt around the finished project.
Speaking of finished , the Meadowood Mall interchange project is nearly completed, It is three months behind schedule but Magruder says they do plan to have it open sometime on Thanskgiving in time for Black Friday and the holiday shopping season.
