Tina Compston wrote saying she was devastated to hear the news about the accident at the Army Depot in Hawthorne, in which eight marines were killed.
She wants to know if there's any way to help the families involved ?
I checked with April Conway with the Nevada National Guard. She says there really isn't anything that can be done for the specific families yet because the names of the victims have not been released.
But if you're interested in helping out, Conway says you can make a donation to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. This organization has been around since 1904. It's a private, non-profit charity sponsored by the Department of the Navy and provides financial, educational and other assistance to members of the Navy and Marine Corps and to eligible surivivors.
Their website is
www.nmcrs.org. Again its the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
