Clyda Anderson had called in asking if there should be more warning before the lane ends on the ramp as you're entering I-80 Eastbound from U-S 395 Northbound. She wants to know if anything can be done ?
We went out and drove that stretch of road and the lane does end suddenly without much warning. And then drivers are forced to merge while driving at freeway speeds.
The good news, I checked with Scott Magruder at NDOT about this. He asked his traffic engineer to check it out and they have decided to put up a sign which will warn drivers in advance that the lane ends. That way drivers can anticipate and not be forced to change lanes at the last minute.
Magruder says they're making the sign, and it should be installed in a couple of weeks.
