"R.T." wrote in saying he heard police across the country are having trouble staying stocked up on ammunition as gun and bullet sales soar. He wants to know if this is true ?
There was an article in the USA Today recently which did say that police departments in the Atlanta area had decided to delay some of their training because of a shortage of ammunition. So it apparently is a real issue in some parts of the country.
Not here though. Justin Saunders our assignment editor at the station checked with Sparks Police, Reno Police and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. Those agencies tell us they buy their ammunition in bulk so they are not in danger of running low.
So this is one of those stories that's likely to continue surfacing with the debate over gun control front and center but at least you know its not an issue for our local law enforcement agencies.
