From the Ask Joe File one of our viewers has a question about the Steven Brooks story.
I got a call from a woman in Carson City who says several people she's talked with want to know how Brooks attained his position in the legislature. She says we haven't mentioned that in our newscasts.
The simple answer is he was elected . I did some research on this. Brooks was first elected to the Nevada State Assembly in 2010. He beat out four other candidates in the primary and then got 4,500 hundred votes to win the general election that year.
In 2012, Brooks ran unopposed in the primary, then beat out Len Marciano by earning more than 68 percent of the vote to represent district 17 in southern Nevada.
During his time in the legislature, Brooks has served on the following committees: Health and Human Services, Transportation, Ways and Means and Judiciary.
So that's a look at his record... I've also talked to a few people in the legislature who say they never observed any suspicious or unusual behavior before his troubles started earlier this year.
