Karen in Carson City wrote in asking when will there be a stoplight installed in front of Carson High School at the Saliman and Robinson intersection ? Karen says her daughter has nearly been hit twice crossing that road.
I checked with Patrick Pittenger. He's the transportation manager for Carson City. He says this question has come up a number of times in the past.
Saliman and Robinson is just south of the entrance of Carson High School. There is a traffic light just to the north at Saliman and Williams but Pittenger says while Saliman and Robinson is busy, it's really only busy a couple of times a day, when students are going to school in the morning and when they're leaving school in the afternoon. Because of that, it doesn't justify putting up a traffic signal,which would cost about $300,000.
I should point out Pittenger is only only the transporation manager he also has a son who attends Carson High School. So he is well aware of the safey issues when it comes to students crossing the street. But again because its only busy for short periods of time that intersection doesn't warrant a traffic signal according to the city.
