From the Ask Joe File, brace yourself this one is a little gruesome but one of our viewers wrote in about some roadkill: in this case a coyote.
Charlie Spikes says he spotted a dead coyote in the road on the Border Town exit from U.S. 395. He says several days later a road crew put fresh oil on the ramp and didn't even remove the coyote. Charlie wants to know is this pure laziness?
Charlie even sent in a picture showing where the road crew oiled right over the road kill.
I checked with Meg Ragonese over at NDOT, figuring it was their crew doing the work in that area.
She says each day an NDOT truck goes around removing debris and hazards from state roads in the area, whether its tires, mattresses or dead animals.
Appparently they missed the coyote and they say no one reported it. Also, the contractor doing the road work apparently missed it as well and went right over it. So this can be chalked up to an oversight according to NDOT, but if you do see something that needs to be cleaned up -- call 834-8300. Meg says they will respond if they get a call.
