From the Ask Joe File one of our viewers has a question about finances at Reno City Hall.
The viewer, who did not want his name used wants to know why the city of Reno is spending 2 million dollars on a new payroll sytem ?

According to the Office of Management and Budget at the city of Reno, the city contracted with ADP for a new  payroll system in order to streamline and automate services.
Under the old system employees filled out time cards by hand and it was very labor intensive.    The new system is automated but its not  cheap.  The city has budgeted $233,000 for the  next fiscal year.  The total cost of the new system will run about two million dollars.  But the city feels its a more efficient system
And there will be come cost  savings with less paper and postage since the  new company handles all of that.
By the way, no one lost their job because of this transition. The employees who used to handle the payroll duties have now taken on other jobs at city hall.
