Nick Duplessis, one of our engineers here at the station noticed the other day that the Neil Road on and off ramps on what is now I-580 are closed for construction.  He wants to know if they're going to re-open ?

What I found out is the Neil Road on and off ramps will re-open -- that work is part of the 20 million dollar Meadowood Interchange Project.
The good news is yes, the ramps will re-open.  The bad news is this project is about three months behind schedule.
Scott Magruder over at NDOT told me they are hoping to have it finished by Black Friday , the day after Thanksgiving and obviously a major shopping day at Meadowood Mall.
Magruder says the work is being done by Meadow Valley Contractors out of Las Vegas, and they've run into some construction problems that have put the project behind.
I called the company's Reno office today and the gentleman who answered the phone hung up on me.  Apparently they're not interested in talking about whatever it is that's delaying this project.
But again, NDOT is counting on them to have it done in time for the upcoming holiday shopping season.
