From the Ask Joe file, one of our viewers has a question about a park in their neighborhood that is in need of some repair.
Wendy in Cold Springs wrote in to say they have a splash pad at their park, but it is not working and has not worked for a while. She wants to know if Washoe County is going to turn the water on any time this summer?
Other viewers wrote in as well, some wondering whether this was part of the county's plan to drive people to the new water park in North Valleys, which you have to pay to use?
The splash pad, or mini-water park, is at the Village Center Park in Cold Springs. Joe checked with Eric Crump, the county's Operations Director and he said the park is not working, because it was vandalized. He said they get vandalism from time to time at the park, but this time the repairs are going to be a little more involved and a little more expensive.
All he would say is they are going to make the repairs as soon as possible, and this is not an effort to drive people from a free park to the fee-based facility at North Valley's Regional Park.
As soon as we hear more about the timeline for repairs, News 4 will make sure to pass that on to you.
