STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) — The attorney for the family of a woman who was killed after being taken hostage during a Northern California bank robbery says he wants to know whether police followed protocols.

The woman, Misty Holt-Singh, was found dead at the end of last month's robbery and kidnapping in Stockton, which included a running gunbattle between police and the suspects. Police are investigating whether Holt-Singh was shot and killed by the suspects or officers.

Attorney Greg Bentley says he filed public-records requests on Thursday for 911 calls and protocols for kidnappings, pursuits and the use of deadly force. Bentley tells The Record of Stockton he wants to know whether police made mistakes or suffered a communication breakdown.

Stockton police spokesman Joe Silva said he had not received the request.
