SALINAS, Calif. (AP) — Monterey County authorities say a 10-month-old girl's body has been found in a farm field near Salinas, just days after she was reported missing.
KSBW-TV reports that the girl's father, 47-year-old Jesus Espinoza, was arrested Monday on suspicion of murder and kidnapping.
The baby girl was last seen alive on Feb. 2, just before police say Espinoza picked her up at her grandmother's house in Castroville.
Police say Espinoza called family members four days later, saying he was taking the child to Disneyland.
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office said it was alerted by the concerned family on Feb. 16, when it launched an investigation.
Los Angeles police found Espinoza waiting at a bus stop there, and authorities say he later told them where they would find the girl's body.
