Mbabane, Swaziland (SportsNetwork.com) - Christiaan Basson fired a 10-under 62 on Sunday to come from behind and win the Lombard Insurance Classic.
Basson closed out his bogey-free tournament at 19-under-par 197. He earned his third career title on the Sunshine Tour.
"Initially when you start any tournament, the plan is to go bogey-free, but it doesn't always work out that way," said Basson. "Luckily I played really solid this week. I must say this was one of the best performances I've ever carded."
Basson opened his impressive round with a birdie at the first, and later rolled in back-to-back gains at the fourth and fifth to move to 12-under.
After parring the next four holes, he birdied the 10th and 13th around an eagle at the 12th to jump to minus-16.
He then converted three straight birdies from the 16th to race to the win.
Third-round leader Jake Redman carded a 3-under 69 during his final round at Royal Swazi Sun Country Club to finish in a tie with Ruan de Smidt (64), Adilson Da Silva (65) and Neil Schietekat (68) for second place at 14-under 202.
Ulrich van den Berg (65), Jaco Ahlers (66) and Erik van Rooyen (66) tied for sixth at 13-under.
