ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — A body that may have been dumped in a garbage bin has been found at an Orange County trash sorting facility.

Anaheim police tell the Orange County Register that a worker found the body on a conveyor belt at the Republic Services plant around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Sgt. Allan Roman says the naked body was discovered face down and partially covered in trash on a belt where recyclables are sorted from trash and yard waste.

Authorities haven't determined the sex of the body. There's no immediate word on the cause of death but a homicide investigation is underway.

Roman says the facility collects up to 6,000 tons of trash daily from northern Orange County and southern Los Angeles County.
