SPARKS, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- A Sparks woman is speaking out after she said a man exposed himself right in front of her own home.

News 4 has concealed the woman's identity, because the man is still at large. Sparks Police are on the lookout for him. "You would expect to feel safe in your own front yard and I worry there may be others who will become victims if he's not stopped," said the woman.

The victim said she was watering her plants when the clean-cut man pulled his car up to the curb to ask for directions. She said she thought she was playing it safe and keeping her distance. Coincidentally, her friend pulled up in another car right behind him. She said he was unphased and didn't stop what he was about to do.

"He was very calm. He was not alterted at all," she said. "He's like, 'what do you think of this?' I'm like, 'what?' I was still looking at his face and that's when, you know..."

Sparks Deputy Chief Brian Miller said it is unfortunate, but these cases do happen, although they are rare. He offered advice on what to do if you find yourself in this situation. The first thing is to get away from the person and go to a safe place. "Go into your home, get into your car, go around into a business where there's other people, find a place where there's other people."

Miller also said you can turn the tables by using your cell phone to take photos or video. "Obviously we don't want people to put themselves at risk to do that, but when they can, those types of things have been very helpful to us."

The victim also provided a good description of the man and his vehicle. If it's possible, you should also try to get a license plate number.

Miller said you should not be embarassed or feel it's silly to file a report. "Behavior like that is like anything else. Once a person's done it a bunch of times, the thrill of it starts to fade a little and they're looking for that next higher, high and behavior can escalate."
