HEMET, Calif. (AP) — A 14-year-old boy suspected in a brutal attack on an 87-year-old woman at a senior housing facility has been arrested following a days-long search in Riverside County.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports the teen was taken into custody late Thursday at a hotel in Temecula.
Another suspect, a 15-year-old boy, was arrested on April 17, the day of the attack.
Authorities say the assault occurred during an apparent robbery at the Camelot Independent Living complex in Hemet.
Police Lt. Dean Evans says the arrest warrant alleges attempted murder, burglary and torture.
The elderly victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Evans tells the newspaper that the suspect arrested Thursday has had "extensive contacts" with police in the past.
