DUARTE, Calif. (AP) — A 16-year-old boy has been shot to death in the eastern Los Angeles County city of Duarte — possibly the latest casualty of gang attacks.
KNBC-TV says the teenager's body was found around 11:45 p.m. Monday behind his apartment complex. It was the third shooting in two days in the small city.
County sheriff's detectives say the teen was associated with a local gang and the attack may have been related to feuding between black and Latino gangs.
An 18-year-old black man, Malcolm Mency, was killed early Sunday while walking home from work, and a drive-by attack wounded a Latino man in his front yard hours later.
Authorities say the shooter may have mistaken Mency, the father of a month-old boy, for a gang rival.
