MINDEN, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) – An area company is hosting a fundraiser for a colleague whose daughter was a victim in Friday’s Connecticut school shooting.
Six year old Olivia Rose Engel was supposed to be a nativity angel at her church play, but today she's represented by one of 20 wooden angels at a makeshift memorial. Her cousin John spoke for the family about her on the today show:
"I think the most important thing I could say is that this is a family of fait,” he said. “Olivia led grace every night, at mass. Their faith is getting them through this.”
Olivia's dad, Brian, works at North Sails Connecticut facility, but he's visited the one in Minden and works closely with some of the guys here.
“I'm still just trying to digest it. Saturday was a rough day and then I decided I wanted to try and do something that could make a difference,” co-worker Jeff Holden said.
You can also drop off donations at 795 Tillman in Gardnerville Ranchos.
They say they are looking for cash or check gifts which will go straight to the family.
