SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Santa Ana police say the discovery of two bodies inside a Santa Ana condominium is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Cmdr. Eric Paulson City News Service reports the bodies of a woman in her late 70s and a man in his early 70s were found Wednesday evening.

A handgun was found at the scene. Police say both victims suffered gunshot wounds.

It's unclear how long they'd been dead.

The woman's daughter had called police for assistance, saying she had not heard from her mother recently.

The daughter told police the two had lived as a couple for about 20 years.

Authorities are not identifying the man or woman until family is notified of the deaths.
