RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Police say they are seeing a trend in vehicle burglaries in south Reno.
Reno Police detectives are investigating a recent grouping of vehicle burglaries in the parking lots at several health clubs. According to Public Information Officer- Lt. Mohammad Rafaqat with Reno Police Department, 16 burglaries have been reported at more than five health clubs in south Reno. Those health clubs are 24 Hour Fitness, Fitness Connection, South Reno Athletic Club and Lakeridge Tennis Club.
Rafaqat says health clubs are targeted because people leave their vehicles unattended for an hour or more at a time. He says in these recent burglaries, thieves have gone as far as busting out windows to get into vehicles.
Police say they have a few vehicle descriptions but no solid lead on suspects. They are asking people with any information to call Secret Witness at 322-4900.
