Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Cubs recalled infielder/outfielder Arismendy Alcantara and right-handed pitcher Dallas Beeler from Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday.

In corresponding moves, the Cubs placed infielder Darwin Barney on the paternity leave list and optioned pitchers Tsuyoshi Wada and Chris Rusin to Iowa.

Alcantara will make his major league debut after hitting .307 with 25 doubles, 11 triples, 10 home runs, 41 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 89 games with Iowa this season, his first at the Triple-A level. The 22-year-old will be hitting second and playing second base on Wednesday night against the Cincinnati Reds.

Beeler is scheduled to start Wednesday's game for the Cubs. The right-hander made his major league debut in the first game of the June 28 twinbill against the Nationals, an outing in which he allowed one unearned run over six innings.

Barney is hitting .224 with 10 doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI in 70 games this season.

Wada made his MLB debut during the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader in Cincinnati. He allowed one unearned run on five hits over five innings.

Rusin has made two relief appearances for the Cubs this season.
