RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) - Wear your Denim to work day! Show your support for survivors of child abuse and neglect by wearing Denim on Friday, November 18. Denim Day is the official start of the Reno Rodeo Denim Drive. The Reno Rodeo Denim Drive runs November 19 – December 19.
The Reno Rodeo Denim Drive collects new jeans, new socks and new underwear for abused and neglected children in protective custody and foster care in 13 Northern Nevada counties. What’s collected in each county stays in each county.
There are over 1,500 children in protective custody in Northern Nevada. In just one school week they will wear 7,500 pairs of jeans, 7,500 pairs of underwear and 15,000 socks. Your support of the Reno Rodeo Denim Drive makes a tremendous difference to children who have survived circumstances most of us can barely imagine. New children arrive in the system daily; most of them arrive without the basics: jeans, underwear and socks. The child you clothe today is not the same child you helped yesterday.
Show your support by wearing denim on Denim Day and by making a donation to the Reno Rodeo Denim Drive. Take a picture of yourself, friends and co-workers wearing denim to work on Denim Day. Upload your pictures to the Reno Rodeo Facebook page to be entered into a drawing for 10 tickets to the 2012 Reno Rodeo.
