Los Angeles, CA ( - Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez left Saturday's contest against the Colorado Rockies prior to the start of the fourth inning with a bruised right thumb.

Ramirez doubled in the first inning and knocked in a run with a groundout in the home half of the third, but did not take the field to start the fourth.

"You know (manager Don Mattingly), it's a long season," Ramirez remarked after the game. "He'd rather I just miss the rest of the game than the rest of the season. He told me to go back in (to the clubhouse) and get ice and be ready for the next day."

X-rays on the thumb were negative and Ramirez, who was already scheduled for an off day Sunday according to Mattingly, is listed as day-to-day. He was replaced in the field by Juan Uribe.

Ramirez had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb in March of last season, which limited the three-time All-Star to just 86 games.
