LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former schoolteacher is due for arraignment in Nevada state court on charges that he kidnapped and made pornographic images of a 16-year-old girl found living at his Henderson apartment last November.

Melvyn Perry Sprowson Jr. is expected to plead not guilty Wednesday to charges that could get him life in prison if he's convicted.

His attorney maintains that the girl had a history of luring adult men into romantic relationships.

Authorities say the teen ran away from home Aug. 28, and was found living with the 45-year-old Sprowson nine weeks later.

Records show that Sprowson was hired as a kindergarten teacher in Las Vegas after resigning in 2012 from the Los Angeles Unified School District amid accusations of improper touching and conduct involving elementary school students.
